Abstract

According to the importance of drug packaging on patient acceptance and its impact on drug administration,This study was design to investigate the effects of packaging dimensions on patient satisfaction. To conduct this study, a questionnaire was developed based on a comprehensive review of existing literature in the field. The questionnaire comprises four main sections: the first section gathers general information about the patients; the second section collects data regarding the respondents' treatment information; the third section assesses the respondents' satisfaction with the acceptance and purchase of pharmaceutical supplemens; and the fourth section examines the packaging characteristics of these medicines. This descriptive research was carried out from March 2021 to February 2022 across five pharmacies in Yazd. The findings revealed that among the packaging characteristics of pharmaceutical supplements, "information on the packaging," "price on the packaging," and "package durability" were identified as having the most significant impact on patients, ranked in that order. A statistically significant relationship was observed at the 95% confidence level between satisfaction with accepting and purchasing pharmaceutical supplements and several packaging attributes, including packaging color, design, geometric shape, informational content, durability, brand, and price. Conversely, no significant relationship was found with respect to packaging size, ease of use, or material. In summary, the results indicate that to enhance consumer and patient interest in the packaging of complementary medicines, manufacturers should prioritize the inclusion of comprehensive information on the packaging, clearly display product pricing, and select appropriate packaging materials. By focusing on these aspects, manufacturers can create more appealing products that are likely to attract greater consumer attention.
