Handicraft packaging, beyond serving as a protective covering, plays an important role in introducing the product, conveying cultural identity, and representing local values. Appropriate packaging design can establish effective communication between the product and the audience through the use of graphic elements, visual signs, color, typography, and composition, thereby influencing consumers’ perception, trust, and choice. In this regard, the use of traditional Iranian elements and local symbols represents an important capacity for strengthening the visual identity of Isfahan handicraft packaging. The present study was conducted with the aim of quantitatively and qualitatively analyzing the application of these elements in the packaging of Isfahan handicrafts. In terms of purpose, this research is applied, and in terms of method, it is descriptive-analytical. The data were collected through field observation of 30 samples of common packaging in the Isfahan market and were analyzed based on indicators such as the type of motifs and images, color palette and harmony, compositional structure, typographic quality, and the degree of conceptual relationship with the product. The main research question is: To what extent do Isfahan handicraft packages employ identity-based and local elements, and to what extent do these elements have a conceptual relationship with the nature of the product? The findings indicate that although the use of traditional motifs and local symbols is widespread among the examined samples, in a considerable proportion of the packages these elements lack a meaningful connection and structural integration with the product contained within, serving primarily decorative functions and providing a superficial representation of cultural identity.
